Santos Zelaya, President of Nicaragua, Washington, D.C., 11 March 1894, 2 pages, large folio , an attractive calligraphic letter of state saluting the inauguration of Zelaya as President of the Republic of Nicaragua: "...I thank you for your sentiments of friendship, and assure you of the best wishes of this Government and myself for the prosperity of Nicaragua and for your personal happiness." -- BRECKENRIDGE, JOHN CABELL, Vice President, Confederate Secretary of War . Autograph letter signed to "My Dear Cousin," Burlington, [Iowa], 5 February 1842, 2 pages, 4to , A good personal letter from the young Breckenridge, writing from the newly founded town of Burlington. He asks fondly after the welfare of his aunts and cousins, before expressing: "...I wish I was an influential man now, indeed - Aunt Susan should have the post office or any thing else it might be in my power to give her..." -- GREELEY, HORACE. Autograph letter signed to T. M. Brewer, New York, 11 February, 1845, 1 page, 4to . Horace Greeley, founder of the New Yorker and the New York Tribune, writes to Brewer regarding his "friend Prof. F. F. Gouroud [who] visits your city in a day or two, intending to give some lectures on his system of Mnemotechny, concerning which so much unprofitable noise has been made." Greeley asks "that he be not undermined in advance by the Press...". Together three items . (3)
