Clarke visited Scandinavia, Russia (from St. Petersburg down to the Sea of Azov), then Constantinople, Rhodes, Egypt, Cyprus, Syria, Jeruslem, Galilee, then Greece (including Athens) then back overland to England. The present work records his journeying in great detail and was "Perhaps the most instructive and engaging book of travels ever published in this country": Lowndes II, p.471. With William Otter's The Life and Remains of the Rev. Edward Daniel Clarke (London, 1824, uniformly bound with the above). (7)
