Complete the three volumes: 755p., 715p., 822p. and all the 110 engraved plates, aquatints and maps. Overall a good copy of a scarce work. Edward Clarke travelled with his pupil Cripps. He set out in 1799 visiting Russia, after Crimea and the coast of Black sea (then called Tartary) before reaching Turkey in early 1800. He spent his next three years travelling around the Levant. After he had visited Scandinavia. Tireless, the two men collected, observed and recorded antiquities, statistics, plants, minerals, climates, people and customs. A unique account with more than a hundred illustrations for the Levant, in total, including beautiful views of Athens and several other places in Greece, as well as early aquatints.
