CLARK GABLE PERSONAL RECEIPTS WITH HANDWRITTEN NOTATIONS AND OTHER EPHEMERA Early 1930s A group of miscellaneous paper items mainly relating to Clark Gable's personal life including receipts from The Hotel Del Monte, The Hillcrest Motor Club (with Gable's blue fountain pen ink handwritten notation reading Paid/May, 19, 9, 1932/ [sic] Check 134 ), a Packard Dealership, G. Maillard Kesslere (the photographer who shot the images of him from Lot 85), The Protective Order of Police, The Southern California Telephone Company (with Gable's blue fountain pen ink handwritten notation reading Paid/May 31, 1932 ), The Standard Casting Directory (with Gable's black fountain pen ink signature evident) and the Machin Shirt Co. Also included are metal die-plates engraved with Clark Gable and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gable used for calling cards and stationery, a 1933-dated script and dialogue continuity from a film titled "Soviet" with light-blue MGM covers, Gable's car insurance policy for his 1931 Cadillac Coupe, a 1932 publicity pamphlet about Gable's early career and a few other assorted pieces of paperwork that the actor felt important enough to save.
