Notes on the War in the South; with biographical sketches of the lives of Montgomery, Jackson, Sevier, The late Gov. Claiborne, and others. Richmond: William Ramsay, 1819. 112 pp. 12mo (173 x 103 mm). Period marbled sheep, morocco spine label. Browned, front pastedown scraped, still an attractive copy. FIRST EDITION. Nathaniel Claiborne, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates during the War of 1812, was also a brother of the first Louisiana Governor, William Claiborne. The author later served as a Virginia Representative and Senator. According to the preface, these notes were written while the War was still in progress.
