CIVIL WAR]. [THREE UNION GENERALS KILLED IN ACTION: WADSWORTH, REYNOLDS, SEDGWICK]. Three autograph endorsements signed ("J. Wadsworth," "John F. Reynolds," and "John Sedgwick"), all on an 18 February 1863 letter from Col. E. B. Fowler to Asst. Adj. Gen. M. T. McMahon. 1 page, 4to, ruled paper, closed tears at creases . A rare gathering combination of three rare signatures. An officer in a New York state militia unit inquires about the location of certain troops. In all, seven different officers answer this query on the verso, respectfully forwarding it along until an answer is provided by Lt. Col. Tolles (the troops were under his command). Reynolds was killed by a sharpshooter on the first day of Gettysburg. Both Wadsworth and Sedgwick were killed in the battle of the Wilderness in May 1864 (Lt. Col. Tolles also died in action in 1865).
