14 15/16 x 19 1/8 in. albumen composite photograph on cardstock mount (toning, chips and a few punctures at lower edge; mount toned with some soiling and dampstain). A composite that includes 110 CDV portraits, most originally with signatures, of prominent politicians and military men of the United States during the Civil War. Includes an image of a US one-dollar bill, an image of the Capitol building, and small illustrations. At center is a vignetted CDV portrait of Abraham Lincoln surrounded by his cabinet members including Hannibal Hamlin, Edwin Stanton, William H. Seward, Gideon Welles, William Dennison, and others. Also featured prominently at center are the Unions top generals and admirals including George Thomas Ulysses S. Grant, William Tecumseh Sherman, Winfield Scott, and David D. Porter. In addition to the prominent officers, the composite also includes a CDV portrait of an unknown private in the top row with the text "The Least in Rank, but Not in Honor." RARE: OCLC locates only 2 copies.
