Condition: faint fold lines, else fine. before joining lincoln in washington, davis settles personal illinois business. The letter states that Davis purchased the property from Clifton H. Moore in November of 1855 and patents belonging to them were stored in the National Bank of Bloomington. Davis, Lincoln's early friend from the Illinois law circuit, was his de facto campaign manager of 1860 and also the executor of his estate after his assassination. Davis went on to serve on the Bench of the Supreme Court and also served 7 years in the Senate. A bold signature on a legal document from one of Lincoln's closest allies.
