Place: San Francisco Publisher: Date: 1918 Description: Panoramic albumen photograph taken by a circuit camera of 1918 San Francisco Chapter of the American Red Cross staff and hospital. Lettered in black background portion in the negative "Hospital Staff Influenza Epidemic of the San Francisco Chapter of the American Red Cross, Nov. 19th, 1918, Photo by Geo. W. Blum." A small fire-truck with hoses and bells and a crew of three men in front of the hospital. City Hall and several businesses and apartment buildings seen in the background, including: Argyle Apartments, U.W. Leavitt & Co. Automobiles, Hotel Bellaire, Hotel Iris and Astor Hotel. Measures 7¾x44¼" inside wooden frame. Pictorial evidence of the great influenza epidemic which struck in the final months of World War I. Lot Amendments Condition: Some fading chiefly left and right sides and upper edges, tiny dust spots; else nearfine. Not examined outside of the frame. Additional shipping costs will apply.
