V., commentary by Desiderius Erasmus Filippo Beroaldo, Paul Manutius and others, collation: *4 a-z, A-Z, Aa-Zz, Aaa-Ccc2, title with woodcut printer's device, woodcut criblé initials, a few with later hand-colouring, contemporary and later ink marginalia, a little in Greek, without final blank, water-stained, mostly lightly, but heavier to first few ff., a little closely trimmed at head, occasional spotting, 17th century panelled calf, sympathetically rebacked, corners repaired, covers rubbed and scuffed, small 4to (203 x 150mm.), Paris, Thomas Richard, 1562 ⁂ An important edition, which is rare at auction. Provenance: 'W. Addonbrooke' (early ink signature to title); R.F. Smith, Lincoln College (20th century inscription); Ernest Moreton (20th century bookplate).
