Unique copy of the unrecorded 2nd ed. of this Dutch chivalric novel on Jason and Hercules. It was 1st published by Van Doesborch in 1521 (NK 3164), and a 3rd ed. by S. Cock in 1556 (unique copies of both in BL London). Of part I (Jason - a Dutch trsl. of Raoul Lefèvre, 1st publ. Haarlem 1484) only the title leaf has survived, printed in red & black, and with 6 woodcuts and a woodcut border on r/v. Pt. II (the story of Hercules) is almost complete (final leaf only lacking) with 2 woodcuts on title and 29 in text (various sizes, incl. repeated border ill.). It is an adaptation of the 1st Dutch trsl. of Raoul Lefèvre’s “Die vergaderinge van der historien van Troyen”, Haarlem, Jacob Bellaert 1485. Both parts were probably available separately and combined. In gothic type in 2 cols. Mod. bookpl.; bibliographical notes on front flylvs. Ref. Not in Pettegree NB, NK, Adams, BnF, BL etc. Cp.
