CHERUBINI, Luigi (1760-1842). Autograph letter signed to Mon cher Vinit , n.p. [Paris], n.d., concerning postponing the Conseil des Compagnies as there is a meeting of les quatres académies à l'Institut on the suggested day, black ink, one page, 8vo , with integral address leaf; CHERUBINI. Autograph letter signed to an unidentified correspondent, Paris, 17 April 1841, thanking his correspondent for the volume of history by Silvio Pellico and for his letter and offering a little canon [not present] as a faible exchange , black ink, one page, 8vo . The first letter is doubtless written in connection with Cherubini's role as director of the Paris Conservatoire, a post to which he was appointed in 1822 and held for 20 years. As is indicated by this letter, he took his duties, however trivial and administrative, extremely seriously. (2)
