Chateau Petrus 1982 Chateau Petrus 1982 Pomerol, Cru Exceptionnel Lot 5181: u. 4bn, 7 slightly damp stained labels, 5 nicked labels, 2 nicked capsules, 2 slightly scuffed labels Lot 5182: u. 3bn, 2vts, 7 levels into neck, wine comes from different importers, 2 heavily stained labels, 3 stained labels, 2 slightly scuffed labels, 1 slightly wrinkled label, 1 wrinkled and torn capsule on top, excellent color and clarity Lot 5183: u. 2vts, 1 scuffed and 1 slightly stained label, 1 nicked capsule, excellent color and clarity Lot 5184: Scuffed capsules, 1 nicked capsule, 1 slightly soiled and torn label, excellent levels, color and clarity Lot 5185: Damp stained, scuffed and nicked label Mature colour. A great nose of prunes, spices, huge character and 'presence'. Liquorice, with sweet, gummy definition. Some sweet aniseed. A lovely sweet 'leather' taste. Now has a pruney finish, with sweet, soft cinnamon at the end. Really mocha as it lingers on the palate. SS. See illustration Lot 5184 2 mags (cn) per lot: HKD 110000-160000 per lot: USD 14000-20000 The very word Petrus creates a 'frisson' unlike any other wine name - and the liquid in the glass induces a dream-like silence as its enormous, almost roasted flavour envelops the palate. The sheer exoticism of this revered vineyard, where clay combines with Merlot to make something wildly heady, needs to be experienced by everyone once in their life (preferably many more times!). Petrus does not taste like other Bordeaux - it is not 'classic' but stupendously original, full of oriental spice box flavours which unfold endlessly. A one-off wine that inhabits a world of its own and, of course, a rarity due to its small (11.4 hectare) size. SS. Quantity: 1
