Château Margaux--Vintage 1999
12 half-bottles per lot
Château Margaux--Vintage 1999 Margaux, 1er cru classé Lots 128, 129, 131, from 133 to 136 are offered in original wooden cases, lot 130: three magnums offered in an original wooden case and three in carton. Lot 132: six bottles offered in single-bottle original wooden cases and five in a carton Tasting Note: The sexy, dark plum/purple-colored 1999 Margaux is already revealing complex aromatics. This surprisingly charming and round offering is reminiscent of a vintage such as 1985. Although neither a blockbuster nor a heavyweight, it grows in the mouth revealing tremendous length as well as purity. This is an archetypical Chateau Margaux of richness, finesse, balance, and symmetry. It can be drunk young, but promises to age nicely for two decades. Extrapolating backwards, it would probably have something in common with the underrated 1962 Medocs. Robert Parker Wine Advocate #140 (Apr 2002) 12 half-bottles per lot
