Chateau Lafite 1998 Chateau Lafite 1998 Pauillac, 1er Cru Classe Lot 5016: Original tissues Lot 5017: Nicked label Lot 5020: Stained label, nicked capsule An absolute winner on the nose - more intense breed, focused concentration and glaring First Growth identity than anything else. Magnificent glossy fruit and voluptuous glycerol. Spicy elements, deep black fruit and pure Lafite scent and nobility all through. Ends on the fresh note that all young top Claret should have. A bullseye. My top Left Bank wine of the vintage. At 12 years old, this is still my opinion. Spicy breed all the way through, with a touch of raspberries. Really tempting black fruit too and a lovely juicy finish. From Imperial in 2010, this is just so young and concentrated. SS. Lot 5018 1 imperial - 6 liter (owc) Lot 5019 1 imperial - 6 liter (owc) Lot 5020 1 imperial - 6 liter (owc) per lot: HKD 60000-85000 per lot: USD 8000-11000 Throughout the centuries, Lafite has proved that this is a wine that ages in the most ethereal way. Lafite combines elegance, breed and scent with sustained power, a miracle of balance and nobility. The extraordinary terroir and position in Pauillac have always been matched by the Rothschilds' sense of quality and vision, resulting in a wine that has mythical status. Continuity is vital in producing a great wine and the wine-making brilliance of Charles Chevallier from the 1990s to the present day has added extra lustre to this exceptional liquid, with the fame of the property spreading further throughout the world. When serving Lafite, decant it well in advance of drinking as its bouquet and taste amplify to multi-faceted dimensions on contact with the air. At the Chateau itself, they double decant, back into the original bottle with its unchanging, instantly recognisable label. Lafite matures slowly, developing gloriously with bottle age, as historic tastings have shown. Collect Lafite for yourself and watch it grow! SS. Quantity: 1
