Château Gruaud-Larose--Vintage 1961
1 dozen bottles per lot
Château Gruaud-Larose--Vintage 1961 Saint-Julien, 2me cru classé Lot 541 levels: five bottom neck, four top, one upper and one mid shoulder; bin soiled and stained labels, one slight signs of seepage and faded label. Lot 542 levels: into neck; bin soiled and stained labels. Lot 543 levels: bottom neck; slightly corroded capsules, bin soiled and stained labels "The 1961 is among the greatest mature wines of Gruaud-Larose I have drunk. This powerful, rich, densely concentrated wine remains young, fresh, and vigorous, with a full decade of life ahead. It continues to exhibit a dark garnet color with some amber, a wonderfully fragrant quality (plus, minerals, tar, cedar, soy sauce, and licorice), a viscous texture, sensational depth of fruit, and a fabulous, albeit alcoholic, finish. This is claret at its most decadent. Anticipated maturity: now-2015." Robert Parker Wine Advocate #95 (Oct 1994) 1 dozen bottles per lot
