Chateau Cheval Blanc 1995 Chateau Cheval Blanc 1995 St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classe (A) Lot 6713- Lot 6717: Excellent levels and appearance Lot 6716: 1 label very slightly marked Lot 6717: 1 label slightly marked, 3 labels slightly damp spotted Lot 6718: 2 labels very slightly damp spotted, 1 body label over bar code label, 1 label with small nick Lot 6719: 5 labels very slightly marked, owc has damaged lid Lot 6720: labels slightly damp spotted, 3 capsules very slightly damaged by case dividers, owc has slightly damaged lid Lot 6721:labels slightly damp spotted, 1 creased label, 2 capsules worn by dividers Lot 6722: u. 2bn, 1vts, 1 label very slightly marked Vintage from 15 September to 28 September. In the previous 50 years at Cheval Blanc, only the 1990 and the 1989 were harvested earlier which shows how things have changed more recently. 44 hl/hectare made - a generous vintage. 12.8% alcohol. 53% Cabernet Franc, 47% Merlot. Due to circumstances beyond his control (Mother Nature!), Pierre Lurton's first great vintage. In 2011, a real smoky nose of great intensity. This even has a meaty note. Great, thick texture, with a touch of iron. Dense, black fruit wine. Serena Sutcliffe, MW Lot 6713 12 bts (owc) Lot 6714 12 bts (owc) Lot 6715 12 bts (owc) Lot 6716 12 bts (owc) Lot 6717 12 bts (owc) Lot 6718 12 bts (owc) Lot 6719 12 bts (owc) Lot 6720 12 bts (owc) Lot 6721 12 bts (owc) Lot 6722 12 bts (owc) per lot: HKD 26000-34000 per lot: USD 3500-4500 Under Jacques Hebrard and, since 1991, Pierre Lurton, Cheval Blanc continues to dazzle. The brilliant technical team at the property coaxes the maximum from this plateau just over the road from Pomerol, where gravel ridges bestow class to the wine and the high percentage of Cabernet Franc gives such scent. And the voluptuous character? That is the magic ingredient, which can be perceived throughout. Cheval Blanc is stunning drunk when it is relatively young, but it also ages in exotic multi-dimensional fashion. Serena Sutcliffe, MW Quantity: 1
