Charles Webster Hawthorne American, 1872-1930 Girl in Green Signed C. W. Hawthorne (ll); inscribed as titled on the reverse and stamped Charles W. Hawthorne/280 West 4th Street, N. Y. on the frame Oil on canvas laid to board 30 x 25 inches Provenance: Estate of Charles W. Frame rubbing. There are some scattered bubbling from when the canvas was laid down to the board. Scattered tiny areas of craquelure. There is blooming in the background, especially in the lower right and lower left quadrants. There is a 1 1/4 inch horizontal scratch in the background at the lower right corner. There is a 3/4 inch vertical loss to the paint surface, approximately 3/4 of an inch. There is a 1/8 diameter loss to the surface in the upper left corner. Dense varnish, making it difficult to detect further restoration under UV light.
