Provenance: private collection, New York. Beginning in the late 1980s, Charles Searles created three dimensional abstract works in painted wood - as wall pieces and free standing sculpture. He exhibited them at Sande Webster Gallery, Philadelphia at the time. Today, several examples are in The Harold A. and Ann R. Sorgenti Collection of Contemporary African-American Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia.
