A long, informative and impassioned speech, given by Stanley at Manchester, is recorded on pp. 21-31; Charles Allen was, at this date, secretary to the Anti-Slavery Society. With 3 other works: George W. Williams's History of the Negro Race in America from 1619 to 1880 (New York, 1883, 2 volumes), Le Mouvement Antiesclavagiste , volume I [Brussels, 1890?] and R. Coupland's The Exploitation of East Africa 1856-1890 (London, 1939); with a certificate from the Committee of the British & Foreign Anti-Slavery Society at their meeting on November 7th 1884, presented To Henry M.
