CHARLES DICKENS (1812-70); WILLIAM WORDSWORTH (1770-1850); ROBERT BURNS (1759-96); HENRY EDWARD MANNING (1808-92) & OTHERS Three 19th-century autograph albums, the first including the signature of Dickens, dated 1 Devonshire Terrace, York Gate, Regents Park, 3rd October 1840, with presentation inscription in his hand to James Taylor laid down; also the cut out autograph of Wordsworth with 3 line fragment of prose in his hand; a 1p. letter by Robert Peel dated July 11, 1834; and the cut out autograph of Robert Walpole, dated 1715. The second album includes a 1½pp. letter by John Hosack, dated 58 Lincolns Inn Fields, 8 June 1841, to 'Dear Taunton', saying he is sending 'a scrap of the handwriting of the poet Burns, which I found among some papers in my desk', laid down on one page together with the fragment mentioned; a 1p. note in the hand of William Harrison Ainsworth; 3 loosely-inserted letters by Lydia Becker, dated Manchester National Society for Women's Suffrage, 1873; the presentation autograph of Bulwer Lytton; and the signatures of Thomas Carlyle and Benjamin Disraeli on envelope address fronts. The third album includes the cut out autographs of John Cam Hobhouse, Washington Irving, and Joseph Paxton; the autographs of 7 early 19th-century opera stars on one sheet; a 2pp. letter by James Mackintosh, dated 11 April 1820 (torn with slight loss); 2 a.l.s. by Henry Edward Manning, written while Archbishop of Westminster, dated 1867 and 1872, both loosely-inserted; a 3pp. a.l.s by Samuel Romilly, dated March 1 1810; a 3pp. a.l.s. by Lord Raglan, dated August 6 1814; and a 2pp. letter by William Wilberforce at end, the majority of items in each album pasted down.
