CATESBY, MARK. The Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands... London [1729-] 1731. Another copy of vol. 1 only, 516 x 359mm. (20 5/16 x 14 1/4 in.), contemporary mottled calf, spine in nine gilt compartments, red morocco lettering-piece, edges stained red, joints and extremities worn, minor rodent damage to upper edges, tiny perforation to pl. 66, pl. 100 detaching along gutter, a very few short marginal tears, slight discoloration and faint offsetting throughout, occasional minor spotting to pl. 40-100 . Ordering of this copy: title, dedication "To the Queen"; Preface; plates 1-100 with letterpress descriptions. Paper watermarked Crowned Shield IV, IHS, HONIG, LVG, WR, and Villedary, all undated.
