399 pages. Printed accounting forms filled out in ink. 40.5x26.5 cm (16x10½"), half leather & cloth, spine titled in gilt, marbled endpapers. Rare original ledger showing the cash balances of the First National Gold Bank of Petaluma during its first 17 years of existence - The first entry is from September 23, 1874, and the bank was chartered on October 12, 1874, with an authorized capital of $200,000. I.G. Wickersham was the founding president and H.H. Adwater was the first cashier. It transitioned to become The First National Bank of Petaluma on April 17, 1884. It was placed in voluntary liquidation on September 25, 1894. The final entries in the present ledger are from June 30, 1891, with a note at bottom "Balance to new book." The columns show the date, the nature of the entry (cash, dividends, etc.), Deposits, Loans, Expenses, Circulation, Interest, and General. The spine titles read "Cash Book" and "First Nat. Gold Bank of Pet'a".
