Casey Stengel's 1963 and 1964 New York Mets Managerial Contracts In spite of a last place finish in 1962, the Mets were embraced by New York fans as "loveable losers". Casey's optimism and media savvy made him the ideal manager for the upstart franchise who drew well at the gate in spite of their losing ways. This 1963 contract granted Stengel a salary of $50,000 from the New York Mets. The organization's satisfaction with his performance is reflected by a raise a year later of $15,000 to $65,000, as evidenced by his 1964 contract. Both contracts are signed by Stengel (9/10) and Mets President George Weiss. Both are in excellent condition with typical folds. LOA's from PSA/DNA, JSA and the Stengel family.
