Lot of 11 cased images capturing women of all ages, including the following: 4 sixth plate daguerreotypes, the highlight being a portrait of an attractive young woman, her cheeks lightly tinted pink, as well as the lace detail on her collar and the flowers beside her, and her jewelry highlighted in gold. Housed in a full leather case, the interior silk lining includes a manuscript note identifying the woman as S. Marshall. 3d wife. Henry W. Osborn. A braided lock of hair tied together with a small ribbon is also attached to the silk lining, and is identified as Her mother's hair. While the second daguerreotype is housed in a full, pressed-paper case, the remaining two portraits are matted under glass, but are uncased. Half plate image that appears to be an ambrotype, housed under a decorative mat with gold detail, and sealed on back, making it difficult to confirm that this is indeed an ambrotype. An interesting, outdoor portrait of a well-dressed, middle-aged woman, her jewelry highlighted in gold, seated outside a brick structure in a garden-like setting. A bird bath can be seen in the lower left corner, while a planter sits at lower right. 5 x 6.25 in. overall. 2 sixth plate ambrotypes, including a ruby ambrotype of a middle-aged woman wearing a dress featuring a unique geometric pattern, housed in half, pressed-paper case. The second ambrotype, showing a mother with her two daughters, is in rough condition, and is housed in a half, pressed-paper case. 3 sixth plate tintypes, including a group shot showing four young, attractive women, possibly sisters, housed in full, pressed-paper case separated at hinge. An additional tintype portrait of a young woman wearing a unique hairpiece is included, and features a penciled inscription behind the image, which states, in part: The pictures of you Cousin Allie age 16 years...New York/ April 20, 1861. Housed in full, pressed-paper case. The third tintype portrait shows a middle-aged woman and is housed in a half, pressed-paper case. Ninth plate ruby ambrotype of two young girls, probably sisters, wearing a dress with the same checkered pattern. Housed in full, pressed-paper case. Image has darkened a bit. Condition: Half plate ambrotype, decorative mount is lightly soiled and has undergone some wear, especially along edges, corners, and on back where the image is sealed in.
