CARY, John & William, London CARY'S NEW CELESTIAL GLOBE ON WHICH are correctly laid down upwards of 3500 Stars Selected from the moft accurate observations and calculated for the Year 1800. With the extent of each constellation precisely defined By M R.GILPIN of the ROYAL SOCIETY. Sold by T. Mason. Efsex Bridge, Dublin. A 13-inch (33cm.) diameter celestial table globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores laid to the ecliptic poles, the axis through the celestial poles, the equatorial graduated in degrees, hours and minutes in two directions, the solstitial and equinoctial colures graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac with names for the former and symbols for the latter, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures and scientific instruments, with stars to seven orders of magnitude, some labelled in Latin and with Arabic numerals and Greek letters ( some slight surface discolouration, small repaired cracks to celestial poles ), with engraved brass hour dial and meridian circle, the hand-coloured engraved paper horizon ring graduated in degrees and days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, also with compass directions, raised on four baluster turned ebonised oak legs united by cross-stretchers -- 17in.
