CARY, John and William. Cary's Pocket globe agreeable to the latest discoveries . London: J. and W.Cary, 1791. A terrestrial pocket globe, diameter 3 inches (77mm.). 12 hand-coloured engraved gores over a plaster base, title in a plain cartouche set in the southern Indian Ocean, the globe showing the track of Cook's second and third voyages, original light varnish, metal pinions (a few minor abrasions to varnish.) Contained in original imitation fishskin-covered case, metal clasps, the interior of the case lined with hand-coloured engraved gores depicting the known world in Caesars time, and a table of latitudes and longitudes. Van der Krogt Car 1. A fine example of Cary's pocket globe. It was remarkably up to date, recording Mackenzie's latest explorations in Canada in 1789.
