Caribbean & Gulf of Mexico.- Moll (Herman) A Map of the West-Indies or the Islands of America in the North Sea, a large and impressively detailed chart, showing parts of Louisiana and Florida in triangular form, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba and the Caribbean islands, with an inset bird's-eye view of Mexico City in the lower left corner, and inset maps of the harbour of St. Augustine, the bay and city of Havana, Panama's bay of Portobello, and the Colombian city and harbour of Cartagena, all in the upper right corner, dedication cartouche to Sir William Paterson is topped by a coat of arms in the centre left, engraving with early hand-colouring on two sheets of laid paper conjoined, total 625 x 1030 mm. (24 1/2 x 40 1/2 in), central and horizontal folds, probably as issued, two folds with repaired splitting, the left vertical fold with small split in the centre and upper section, the right hand side vertical fold slightly discoloured, overall even browning with some surface dirt, minor spotting, nicks and tears to extremities, unframed, printed for Thomas and John Bowles [1720].
