Florence: Stamperia di S.A.S., 1661. 4° (229 x 169mm). 5 engraved plates, including duplicates of the first and last, by Stefano della Bella (A few tears in plates repaired, slight wear at folds, light spotting on title.) Contemporary limp vellum gilt, flat spine gilt in compartments, title lettered on upper cover (cover inscription faded, endleaves renewed). Provenance : armorial stamp on title verso; Piero Ginori Conti (bookplate). Il mondo festeggiante, balleto a cavallo . Florence: Stamperia all'insegna della Stella, 1661. Broadside (341 x 440mm). Wide typographical-ornament border, woodcut ornamental initial. Folded, modern wrappers. A large, unpressed, copy of a full account by Carducci of the celebrations surrounding the marriage of Cosimo III and Marguerite Luise d'Orléans, accompanied by A RARE BROADSIDE ANNOUNCEMENT outlining the activities. It was Alessandro Carducci who designed the elaborate equestrian pageant around the theme of Atlas; one of its novelities was having the giant figure of Atlas sing. The pageant was staged behind the Palazzo Pitti (now Boboli gardens), opening with a parade of chariots representing the continents of Europe, Africa, America and Asia, and ending with tournaments and an equestrian ballet, the movements of which are detailed in the engravings. Ferdinando Tacca is named as engineer. The songs by Giovanni Andrea Moniglia with engravings by Stefano della Bella As usual, the text begins on page 7.
