(12x9"), original saddle-stitched white wrappers. A rare and important post-war program. After a 2 year hiatus due to World War II, the Canadian Open resumed. Further, this Open was significant in that the victor of the tournament was Byron Nelson, completing an amazing 11 victories in a row, a record that no golfer since has come close to breaking. Nelson had 18 victories in 1945, and held several other records that year, such as finishing in the money 113 consecutive times. Program with an article about Nelson titled, "Byron Nelson: One of the Few Players to Average Under 70 for a Tournament Year." The front cover is illustrated with a drawing of the famed Seagram Gold Cup trophy, which was stolen by a couple of youngsters prior to the awards ceremony, yet recovered just in time to present to Nelson. Only 1 copy of this program located by OCLC / Worldcat, at the Toronoto Public Library. Lot Amendments Condition: Some light wear to corners, wrappers detaching at spine ends, small chip at top corner of rear wrapper, lightly foxed margins; scattered tiny marks or creases within; a very good copy of a very scarce item.
