Serving in the 27th (City of Winnipeg) Battalion Canadian Infantry, he was wounded at the battle of St. Eloi. Alfred Howe was killed in action, Vimy Ridge, 10 April 1917. having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. He was the son of John and Mary Jane Howe, of 3142 Irma Street, Victoria, British Columbia. With copied service papers and war diary extracts.
