Bourgerat, 1664 [part IV]. 4 parts, 4° (192 x 151mm). Engraved title and 100 engraved emblems by Hans Sibmacher in each part. (Repair to outer margin of D2 in part II, tiny wormhole to margin of final two leaves, some browning.) Contemporary vellum, modern label on spine (head of spine lightly rubbed, light staining). Provenance : C.W.G.V.N. (booklabel) ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE EMBLEM BOOKS , first published in 1590. Illustrated with a total of 400 round engraved emblems attributed to Hans Sibacher, the four parts are devoted to plants, quadrupeds, birds and insects, and fishes.
