Blue hardcover with gilded lettering and illustrated jacket. First Edition. Samuel M. Shoemaker, a priest of the Episcopal Church and one of the founding fathers of Alcoholics Anonymous. The philosophy that he codified in collaboration with Bill Wilson has spread worldwide, and contributed to the treatment of alcoholism. The book is i nscribed and signed by the author, "For Constance Overton-Jones -in the history making fellowship -and in gratitude for Ted and the frontispiece! -Sam -Easter 1936".
