(C) NEAR NEW SMITH & WESSON US ARMY MODEL 1917 DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER.

When the US Government simply could not get enough Model 1911 Colt Automatics on the front lines in France, they turned to Colt and Smith & Wesson for a supply of heavy duty revolvers. This gun was built on the large N frame, square butt, five screw frame. This gun features commercial quality factory high polish blue finish, six shot, fluted cylinder, case color hammer and trigger, lanyard ring, and smooth two piece walnut grips. Barrel is pinned and cylinder is cut to use half moon clips for the .45 ACP. The butt is marked "US Army". "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" is stamped under the barrel. Left side of frame has the Ordnance bomb. CONDITION: Aside from a few minor surface marks and a light drag line, gun is in near new condition inside and out. It comes with a fine condition, all original 1917 leather holster.
