Lot consists of two Japanese Type 99 rifles. (A) Series 3 Type 99 rifle manufactured by Nagoya. Chrysanthemum bares three strike marks through it, but it still clearly visible. Matching numbers include the receiver, bolt, and front barrel band. Buttstock retains some adhesive residue. CONDITION: Metal components retain a good amount of their arsenal applied bluing, showing wear and thinning with a brown patina showing through. Metal components show corrosion and some small areas of rust. Bore is bright and retains good rifling throughout. Stock shows many scattered nicks and indentations from handling and storage, as well as some minor losses. (B) Series 35 Type 99 manufactured by Toyo Kogyo. Chrysanthemum has been ground off. Matching numbers include the receiver and bolt. Bolt is missing its firing pin spring. Rifle exhibits crude late war production methods including a welded safety, fixed rear sight, and welded barrel bands. CONDITION: Metal components retain most of their arsenal applied finish, showing areas of wear all around. Bore is bright and retains good rifling throughout.
