Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 standard weight bolt action rifle in special order .358 Winchester caliber made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1957. Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrel with correct hooded lined ramp front sight and correct later style flip sight with graduations. Barrel marked on underside with "R" inspection mark only, which is common after 1956. Gun built in last year of production of the .358 caliber and gun configuration is listed as a known configuration. Barrel has Winchester 2-line address and logo with caliber marking of ".358 WIN". Matted finish action with 3-position safety, blued floorplate, and matching serial number electropencilled bolt body with hollow bolt handle. Walnut standard weight style Monte Carlo hand-checkered stock with correct blued sling swivels and steel checkered widow's peak buttplate. CONDITION: 95% factory original blue with some light edge wear. 95% action finish with bolt handle having slight handling wear. Electropencilled number is heavily applied but appears original and matches gun. 95% original varnish with some light handling marks. Floorplate shows light carry wear. Excellent bore and mechanics. A rare, hard-to-find gun.
