Matching numbers include the frame, locking bolt, trigger, trigger sideplate, hold-open latch, receiver, trigger bar, toggles, breechblock, extractor firing pin, barrel, and grips. P.08 is complete with a contemporary wood case fitted with a German eagle on the lid, containing several period mementos, including a 1937 dated 1 reichspfennig coin, a 1937 dated 2 Reichsmark coin, two "DEUTSCHES REICH" postal stamps, two eight-round boxes of 1944 dated 9mm Parabellum ammunition, as well as a contemporary magazine, loading tools, and a P.08 manual. Also included is a 1929 dated P.08 police holster which is marked "Franz Cobau / Berlin / 1929" over a police "K" within police sunburst stamp. Holster unit marked "L.2SpL063" CONDITION: Metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original salt blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning all around, with worn areas showing through to silvering. Barrel exhibits the most wear, retaining traces of its original finish, with the balance turning a grey patina. Bore shows pitting and fair rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as a minor chip just behind the safety lever. Contemporary case shows few minor handling marks, and fabric interior is excellent. Holster shows age cracking all around, and wear to the manufacturer markings. Loading tool flap is torn near button.
