Lot consists of (A) Springfield Model 1898 Bolt Action Rifle with 30" round barrel, 1901 rear sight and blade front sight. Chambered in .30-40 Krag (.30 Army). Plain straight grip walnut 1 piece stock with single barrel band and forearm end with bayonet lug and 1898 "square" bolt inlet. CONDITION: Very good with metal parts faded to a mottled blue-gray patina with handling marks throughout. Stock is good, maintaining most of its original finish. Numerous, dents and dings from handling and a minor crack at wrist close to the tang. Action works correctly. Bore is frosted but has good rifling. (B) Springfield Model 1898 Bolt Action Rifle with 30" round barrel, 1898 rear sight and blade front sight. Chambered in .30-40 Krag (.30 Army). Plain straight grip walnut 1 piece stock with single barrel band and forearm end with bayonet lug and 1898 "square" bolt inlet. Comes with World War II style leather sling. CONDITION: Good to very good with metal parts faded to a soft, mottled gray patina with handling and storage marks throughout. Stock has been lightly sanded and refinished and has dents and dings throughout. Large chip at right of stock near buttplate and minor crack at tang. Both Circle P proof mark and Inspector proof are very faint and illegible but are visible. Action works correctly. Bore is very good with some frosting but sharp, crisp rifling. (C) Springfield 1898 Bolt Action Rifle with 30" round barrel, 1901 rear sight and blade front sight. Chambered in .30-40 Krag (.30 Army).
