Francesco Bulto’s range of Spanish-built ‘Bultaco’ motorcycles arrived here in 1963 with the TSS road-racing singles. In 1965 the ‘Metralla’ road machine and the first of the ‘Sherpa’ trials were announced. The ‘Sherpa’ was a wholly successful design, obtaining instant recognition as a ‘machine to have’ amongst trials riders. Later ones were available in both built-up and kit form, with revised tank, seat and side-panels. The engine remained a model for power characteristics and reliability. In the hands of riders such as Sammy Miller, the ‘Sherpa’ remained a considerable force into the 1980’s. This complete example, never registered for the road, is in sound condition but would benefit from a repaint and general recommissioning before being used again. There are no documents with the machine.
