The NSU factory obtained great prestige during the 1950s as a result of their racing successes. Combined with this they produced a range of fine 250cc single cylinder overhead camshaft motorcycles. These machines were quite unusual with their 45 degree inclined engines and a rod driven single overhead camshaft operating large valves controlled by hair pin springs. The frame and fork were of pressed steel construction and the finished motorcycle was typically continental and rather unusual to the UK market, where they never sold in great numbers. This example, unused for many years, remains mostly complete but it is missing, for example, its rear chain guard, but it does form the basis of a restoration.
