Original blue buckram-backed blue cloth-covered boards, spines lettered in gilt, t.e.g. Condition : some light spotting, occasional very light soiling; lightly scuffed, extremities bumped. a fine copy, featuring the work of two of the best known ornithological artists of their time. This work is essentially a reprint of the first two volumes of Butler’s six-volume British Birds their nests and eggs (Hull & London: 1896-1899), but is more desirable as the uncolored plates of the earlier work are here replaced with good quality chromolithographic plates.
