Contemp. sheep (sl. rubbed), richly gilt spine with 5 raised bands (joints rubbed, sm. def. at head & tail), brown leather title label. Good copy. Rare treatise on the bishops of Bruges and on canons, deans etc. of St Donatian's Cathedral, dedicated to Hendrik Joseph Van Susteren. Illustrated with the often missing engr. folding plate of the cathedral, by P. Devel. The cathedral was sold and destroyed in Woodcut title-vign., woodcut arms at dedication. Ref. De le Court - STCV (only 2 with folding pl.) Prov. "J. vande putte C.R. 1770", "[name erased], and "L. Slosse, vie in S. Crucis, juxta Brugas. 1870." (ownership entries on title). - Some added biographical notes and dates of death, probably written by Slosse, but "ex notis Fr. Vande Putte, Dec. Cortracensis". - Nicolaas de Haudion (1596-1649), eighth bishop of Bruges (armorial bookplate). - Four more cut-out armorial plates on pastedowns, likely Charles de Lorraine, Mechelen, Ghent and Bruges.
