British Pattern 1730/40 Long Land Service Musket, c. 1745, .80 caliber, lock engraved behind the cock "IORDAN/1745" and crown over "GR" and crown broad arrow government ownership mark below the pan; walnut stock with remnants of relief carving around lock and sideplate, storekeeper's mark on the right side of the butt along with carved "IC," inspector's mark behind the trigger guard, "VIII" assembly marks in the rammer channel; barrel has a trace of ordnance view and proof marks and "57" on left side of breech, early pear and discus-style trigger guard as proper for pattern, (restoration), barrel lg. 45 1/2, overall lg. 61 1/2 in. Provenance: The Bill Ahearn collection.
