Two etched plate by CAGNONI after GASPARE TURBINI and 7 etched vignettes, one after PIETRO BATTAGLIOLI (large folding plate with a few repairs). Flexible paper boards, paper spine (some light wear, a few small chips along front joint and spine ends). An account of the festivities held in Brescia in 1762 honoring the elevation to Cardinal of GIOVANNI MOLINO (1705-1773), Bishop of Brescia. The text describes the illumination of the city, the ball given at the Palazzo Molino in Venice, the triumphal arches erected throughout Brescia, a celebration at the Collegio, and the illumination of the great staircase at the monastery of Saint Chiara and includes sonnets written by local poets as a tribute to the Cardinal. The celebration was designed by local architect, painter and priest GASPARE TURBINI, and the two engraved plates illustrate the staircase at the monastery which was illuminated for the occasion and the stage of the Teatro del Collegio ornately adorned with statuary and arches.
