Brahms, Johannes. EARLY AUTOGRAPH LETTER, TO JOSEPH JOACHIM, UNPUBLISHED written by Brahms from Düsseldorf, a postscript on the inside of an envelope, informing him that Hasenclever is rehearsing Palestrina in the Franciscan Church, giving details of the performance date and the pieces to be performed, and commenting on the juxtaposition of Beethoven and Palestrina on the programme ("...9.te Sinfonie u. Palestrina! Wo will der hin ? ? ?'), 1 page, oblong 8vo (8.2 x 14.5cm), autograph address panel ("den Herrn Virtuosen Joseph Joachim in Hannover..."), later annotations in pencil and crayon to address-panel, stamped Duesseldorf, no date [1850s?], light dust-staining to outside of envelope, traces of original envelope sealant, crease to envelope flap; together with an autograph letter by the publisher Franz Leuckart, signed ("F.E.C. Leuckart"), to Johann Anton André in Offenbach, describing the effects of war on his business, and discussing a business matter, 2 pages, 4to (23 x 19cm), integral autograph address-panel, wax seal, seal excision, annotated for or by the recipient, with a later typed transcription, Breslau, 20 February 1807
