Conductor Generalis, or The Office, Duty and Authority of Justices of the Peace, High-Sheriffs, Under-Sheriffs, Goalers, Coroners, Constables, Jurymen, Over-seers of the Poor, and also the Office of Clerks of Assize and of the Peace, &c. Collected out of all the Books hitherto written on those Subjects, whether of Common or Statute-Law.
Philadelphia: Andrew Bradford, 1722; 1721. 2 parts in one, [8], xii, 300 pp., small 4to (183 x 140 mm). Later tan polished calf, stamped in blind. Condition : lower right corner of title in facsimile with loss to imprint year, dampstaining and browning. first edition of the first legal vade mecum printed in philadelphia. It is only the second such work published in the colonies (preceded by a very rare New York, 1711 edition). The second part covering the duties of sheriffs is preceded by its own title, with imprint dated 1721, but is continuously paginated and signed to the first section. Evans 2327; Hildeburn 179; Sabin 15215.
