(Tears to inner margin of S1, occasional light soiling.) Later vellum, leather label on spine (lightly soiled). Provenance : A.H. Bright (booklabel). Second edition. Landwehr Low Countries , 76. Together with seven other emblem works comprising: Saavedra Faxard’s Idea principis Christiano-politici (Amstedam, 1651); Thomas Bartholinus’ De unicornu observationes novae (Amsterdam, 1678); Adriaan Spinniker’s Leerzaame zinnebeelden (Haarlem, 1714); Giovanni Pietro Pinamonti’s Spiegel sonder Bedrogh ofte kennisse syns selfs (Antwerp, 1733); Pauwels’ Pessimorum pessimum, et optimorum optimum, sive Linguae incompositae (Antwerp, 1774); Matthaeus Merian’s La danse des morts ... depeinte dans la ville de Basle (Basel, 1789); and a work containing 7 tipped in engravings and titled 'Triumphs over the Vices by Wierx' on spine.
