Albumen print title-vignette (1 r e livraison) and 40 albumen prints mounted on card (each loosely inserted as issued) by Paul Regnard. Original blue printed wrappers, text and plates loose as issued; [Vol. II] 12 livraisons in 12 parts. Collotype title-vignette (1 r e livraison) and 39 collotype plates after Regnard. Original blue printed wrappers, text and plates loose as issued; [Vol. III] Collotype title-vignette and 40 collotype plates after Regnard. Unbound signatures loose as issued. Each volume in original cloth-backed printed board portfolio with cloth ties (portfolios broken, but with all spine portions present). RARE FIRST EDITION of this photographic atlas devoted to cases of hysteria and epilepsy, accompanied by case histories. Bourneville was Charcot's assistant at the Salptrire from 1870 to 1879. Each part in Vol. I contains four original albumen prints by Regnard, and the later volumes all contain collotype plates (as did later issues of vol. 1). VERY RARE IN ORIGINAL PARTS.
