Modern red morocco, edges gilt, by Riviere & Son. FIRST COLLECTED EDITION of the dramatic speeches given annually from 1771 to 1783 commemorating those who had died at the hands of British troops on March 5, 1770. Collects the impassioned speeches by John Hancock, Peter Thacher, Joseph Warren, and other notables which roused the spirit of liberty that led to popular support for separation from England. Sabin calls for an errata slip (not present in this volume), but Evans does not mention it, and all copies appearing at auction in at least the last thirty years are without it. Evans 18997; Sabin 6737.
