Type: 1:112R. 7-line initial and coat-of-arms on a3r illuminated and in colours, somewhat renewed, 6-line initials on A1r in blue with red penwork decoration, 3- to 4-line initials and paragraph marks alternating in red and blue. (Small wormholes, most neatly filled, in about 6 quires, decoration on a3r rubbed, lightly washed, affecting decoration on a3r and occasionally leaving a light halo around painted initials, a few light stains.) 20th-century brown morocco blindstamped in Italian style of the 15th-century preserving vellum endpapers from a 13th-century Italian MS register of names concerning accounts (extremities very slightly rubbed). Provenance : New York, Manhattan College, Paolino Gerli collection (bookplate, 2 number rubberstamps); Giorgio Di Veroli (bookplate, sale Parke-Bernet, 28 February 1956, lot 161). Second edition. Abbot of the Austin Canons at Fiesole, Bosso was a Neoplatonist and member of Ficino's Platonic Academy, which reputedly met at the Badia at Fiesole under Bosso's tenure. He enjoyed the patronage of Lorenzo de'Medici, who insisted that Bosso be at Fiesole when Giovanni de'Medici was made cardinal; the present edition is dedicated to Giovanni.
